![]() Here's a cute bride's maid favor sample I worked up for my buddy Brenda - based on a picture on the cover of the March/April 2013 issue of Papercrafts magazine. So cute! There was a cutting template, but I thought it could totally be adapted to our own fabulous Dress Up framelits! Here's the how to: Cut out the dress of your choice, lining up the dress shoulders "on the fold" of a top folded piece of CS. Next, cut out a matching or coordinating oval (I used the #3 oval from our Ovals Collection to nest a little smaller than the bell of the skirt.) That oval is 3" in length, I cut it in half at 1.5" to give two pieces. ![]() Decorate the two oval halves to show from under the outer skirt. I embossed mine with the Delicate Designs embossing folder. Glue the halves in place to show from under the dress skirt as shown, one on both the front and the back piece of the dress. Next, to form the "box," cut a 4" by 1 1/4" (or you could make it wider to make the box a bit bigger) strip of matching or coordinating CS. Score that strip at 1/4" and 1" on the short edge, and at 1" and 3" on the long edge. Snip the 1" and 3" score lines back to the first crossing scoreline, so you can form the box angle, glue the box shape together, and then adhere to the dress backs as shown. I added a little ribbon at the waist, and some pearls to dress it up even more. The finished box could hold a little bag of mints or even a couple Ghiardeli chocolate squares. So quick and easy - really! Tiny Tags stamp set; Whisper White CS; Dress Up & Ovals Collection framelits; Delicate Designs embossing folder; Baja Breeze & Early Espresso inks; 1/8" Taffeta in Baja Breeze; Jewelry Tag punch; self-adhesive pearls.

![]() OK, a DARLING sketch from Fabulous Friday #13 this week! I'm really getting excited by these layouts - so easy to keep it simple, or dress it up! I just got the Blue Ribbon stamp set in the mail this week, so this week's layout seemed perfect for breaking it in! Totally cool that you can swap out the sentiment circles, too! I think this one could make a good "guy" card - yay! Blue Ribbon stamp set; Island Indigo, Baja Breeze, Real Red & Whisper White CS; Sent With Love DSP; Island Indigo & Real Red inks; 1 3/8" Circle punch; self-adhesive rhinestones. ![]() It's another new month - you know what that means! Here's a quick look at March's "Best of..." set - Best of Flowers. Check out the new image - it punches out with the 1 1/4" scallop circle punch - yay! I love outline stamps, perfect for coloring! Click on the picture for a full-size version of the flyer. ![]() And another new item from SU! - photopolymer stamps! Lisa and I were JUST talking about this the other day, too funny... We must be PSYCHIC! Or is that psycho? I get mixed up... Here's the deets: We've searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we've found it. We're excited to announce that we now have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps! The new photopolymer will be an addition to our stamp line and will appeal to all types of stampers. Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let's just say they're meant for each other! Photopolymer stamps will also be unique, fun designs that will inspire you and provide more versatile options you may not see in our traditional wood- and clear-mount stamp options. What makes them so great?
![]() OK, here's the other shadow box we'll be doing in next week's class - finally, an insert for April! I knew we needed to use the cute little umbrellas, and the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP to go with is just perfect! This insert is made using as many punches and dies as we can, so we have all the time we need on that St. Patrick punch art on the other insert... So, don't forget to RSVP for Thursday, Feb 21, 630 pm, for a fun Spring decor class! ![]() Here's our first of two projects for next week's class (Thursday, February 21, 630 pm, $20, all materials provided, don't forget to RSVP!) I decided it was time to fill in some Spring holes in our shadow box collection! This first one, obviously, is for St Patrick's Day, and should go great with the "other side" of our clothespin wreaths! My version shows pretty much EVERY option I came up with, I couldn't seem to stop (go figure, right?), but you can do as much or as little detail as you like - fun stuff! It'll be good to have a little Saint on my hall table! Keep an eye out for our other project - an April Showers theme! ![]() OK, you guys can totally blame Lisa V for finding this project for us - she saw a Valentine's version of a clothespin wreath out on Pintarest (where I don't go, to prevent sensory overload!) and sent me a picture to figure out. So, like, ok, 10 minutes later I was on eBay ordering us a giant crate of clothespins! WHAT A COOL PROJECT! The version I saw was by Sharon Cheng - brilliant! I think the part that was coolest was when I realized that if we put it together right, you could, hee hee, make it REVERSIBLE! So that's what we'll be doing. The Valentine's side uses this year's More Amore DSP and Spring Mini 2013 accessories. Sweetness! ![]() The other side I figured we would work ahead a bit to St. Patrick's Day - which I always have a tough time decorating for! This ended up being a mix of all the green DSPs I could dig out of my stash - so fun! SO, the January bonus class will be on January 31, 630 pm here at Chez Heroldt, and will be to make BOTH versions of the clothespin wreaths shown here, all materials provided, $25. I can even throw in some extra ribbon for hanging if you see something that catches your eye! This was so fun to make, and you know I'll do the tedious stuff ahead of time so I can to make it painless and perfect for you! I really worked out a system! There might be other font choices for the words by then, too, I have a couple of new alphabet sets on the way! RSVP for your spot today, so I can make sure to have your wreath base ready! ![]() Hi Everyone! Here's the completed ensemble for next week's class - a Valentine's party! We'll be making the Standing Tags banner that says "I Love You," a kanzashi necklace and pin set, and a cute card. I have a couple different necklace options for you to choose from - this sample shows a wire collar style. So, class is next Thursday, January 17, 630 pm here at the house. If you haven't already, make sure to RSVP so I can have your supplies ready for you! Right now, I plan on a bonus class for January 31, to make a new wreath for the front door, or for inside - pictures soon and Save the Date! ![]() I know the time is fast approaching when I have to take down the Christmas decorations, {sob}, so I always want to bring on the Valentine's decor P-D-Q - I can't have a naked house after all the holiday extravagance! I thought this standing-tag table banner was SO adorable - I figured we had to do one for class, to go with our shadow boxes! And then you can fold it up and tuck it away til next year - how cute is that?? If we didn't do all the dimensional stuff, you could even make cute cards this way, too, I was thinking... ![]() Anyway, this is definitely on our list of class projects for Jan 17! I think we'll make the kanzashi into a necklace, maybe with a pin to go with, perhaps, this banner, and a card for your sweetie... If there's interest, I figured we could also have a bonus class on Jan 31, for those that don't have a Valentine's Day shadow box insert, or who want to make the second one that Lisa and I did last year - those pictures are below. The bonus class will be for one shadow box insert, and two cards, in case the one we do on the 17th isn't enough to cover all your sweethearts! Hee hee... We can definitely do a mix-and-match-make-up of whatever you like, more cards, treats, whatever! Let me know what you think about the 31st! ![]() OK, how many of you are hoping I would forget all about my resolution to find more ways to use SU!'s Designer Fabric? No way, baby! One of my Christmas presents this year from hubby was the fabulous book Kazashi In Bloom, by Diane Gilleland. It took me three whole days to realize that we could use it for a fabric project! Yay! Kanzashi is a Japanese art of creating flowers from squares of silk, and assembling them into gorgeous blossoms - so much less pressure in cotton! Woo! This lovely fabric is actually the Tea For Two Designer Fabric from the 2013 Spring Mini catalog - I ordered it accidentally but figured it was fate! (Yes, the order number for the fabric is one digit off from the More Amore DSP, sigh.) These blooms will make their way somehow (in a very cute way!) into our Valentine's class on January 17th - RSVP now! Tea For Two designer fabric; Designer builder brads; Sycamore Street DSP; Sycamore Street designer buttons; Extra Large self-adhesive rhinestones. ![]() Here's a quick shot of my weird little present for my ladies this week - our last class of the year {sob}! Everyone got a little bottle of citrus handwash - to remind you of all the ink and glue I like us all to wear! And glitter - can't forget that! Anyway, these little bottles are decorated with a few items from the upcoming Sal-A-Bration catalog - which everyone also got their own copy of! The DSP is called Sycamore Street - another great one! And the little tags are from a cute little new stamp set called Pretty Petites, using an AWESOME new coordinating punch - the brand new Petite Curly Label! Word on the street is that the punch will carry over to the new catty - because there's another stamp set that goes with it in the Spring Mini! Weeeee! So, anyway, Merry Christmas, my friends! Thank you for all your love and support, and see you back in class on January 17! Oop, and here are tonight's Holiday Gifts instructions as well! ![]() And for those who asked, here's the recipe for the Edamame Hummus we enjoyed - yum! Angela at Oh She Glows is my new favorite food site - so many things I want to try! I foresee lots of hummus in my future! Maybe we should all have Green Monsters sometime, too! And to go with our yummy pizzelles, I recommend the Homemade Nutella Spread from our fine ladies at Our Best Bites! Another winner! ![]() One of the first things to catch my eye in this year's Holiday Mini catalog was the picture featuring the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Fabric, that showed a cute little pine tree all wrapped up and ready for giving (page 4!) But here in the Valley of the Sun, I think we're more into cactus, and wouldn't you know it, there's even one just for Christmas, LOL! This was one of my grandmother's favorite holiday plants, and I thought they'd be a sweet finish to our gifts class! A little spot of brightness for the winter! I can't wait to see you all on Thursday, and celebrate the season with you! See you soon! |
